Highly recommend Lido Tours for this walk and our excellent guide for the day. From Funchal we drove for 30 mins before stopping at a supermarket to use the toilet (the last chance) and to buy lunch if needed. Then after 15 mins drive we reached the walk. This route is busy and popular, but still beautiful. The walk begins high up where it is cooler so bring layers. Most of the walk is downhill or flat when doing it on this route. On the way to the fountains there is only 2 uphill climbs, around 60 steps up and then a further 100+ steps right before the fountains. On the way back there is just 57 steps down and then up again and the whole route back is flat as you go back through a tunnel and get picked up there instead. The guide was excellent at keeping a steady pace and giving lots of information about the nature and history with regular stops. As someone with a low fitness level it great and I never felt left behind. Be aware if not cutting through the tunnel its much harder!

True Spirit gets pole position as best tour company after a week of different tours during our time in Madeira. Rui was an excellent guide with in-depth knowledge of the island, a friendly demeanor and capable and safe driver, which you need to enjoy the off-road elements of the trip. There was room for 8 guests, with 4 in the back, 3 in the middle and one passenger at the front. We had a good amount of time at each sight, and there was lots information given throughout the journey. Unfortunately the sea was too rough to swim in the North, but we got to watch the amazing waves. Lunch was delicious and the off roading was really good fun. Flat sandals worked fine as footwear but bring layers as is can get colder but it's much more fun with the roof down!

Due to very bad weather conditions we couldn't climb Pico Ruivo, but the guide suggested an alternative trail along the coast. It was a great experience! Beautiful and diverse route, very interesting stories told by the guides (there were two small groups). If you are interested in Madeira's nature, history and culture you should definitely say yes to this trip. I really hope I will come back and join the guys again to climb the mountains.

Carlos our guide was lovely and drove carefully on the very curly roads!!. Scenery brilliant. Toboggan ride great fun. Wish we didn't have masks on for the photos!!!

Breathtaking hike and fantastic guide and driver both of which super knowledgeable and fun!
