Experience the natural beauty of Madeira by classic VW and drive along the regional roads towards Ribeira Brava. Stop in the city center of Câmara de Lobos and get stunning views from the Pico da Torre viewpoint. Drive to the towering sea cliff of Cabo Girão to experience the highest promontory in Europe and get a stunning view over Funchal and Câmara de Lobos from the glass skywalk. Continue to Ribeira Brava and stop at another viewpoint along the way. Navigate your way through the center of Ribeira Brava and visit the parish of Serra de Água to enjoy authentic ponchas (a traditional alcoholic drink from Madeira) or other regional drink at a typical bar.

Given the current covid-19 situation we found this an excellent way to explore the area. Having a personal guide and travelling in a novel mode of transport only added to the overall experience. We both enjoyed the whole authentic tour but just sitting and chatting with a local and discussing the current situation/issues just brings it home that people are pretty much the same all over the world.

A very nice half day trip. Even before we arrived, we were looking forward to the beetle and then it came around the corner. 1979 year in dark blue. Get in quickly and head to the best viewpoints in the area. After a poncha tasting and extra New Year's Eve tips, we were dropped back at our hotel with a wealth of experience.

Great way to get to know Madeira

Together with our driver Rudolfo we had a great afternoon and got a great impression of Madeira. He told us a lot and drove us to beautiful places in his unique VW Beetle convertible. As cruise guests, we were only on the island for one day and thanks to Carochentos we had a great time! Would recommend it anytime!
