Full description
Start your West Island Tour with hotel pick-up between 8:00 and 9:00. Your first stop will be at the famous fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, where the famous Sir Winston Churchill spent his days painting when he visited the island of Madeira. Continue to Cabo Girão to view the highest sea cliff in Europe. The tour's next stop is at Ribeira Brava, where you will make a quick visit to the church there. You will then discover Ponta de Sol. This name literally means "point of the sun," an apt description for the most beautiful village on the island. Next enjoy a scenic drive through the Laurissilva Forest up to the plateau of Pául da Serra. Stop for a short, flat, easy walk along a levada (an irrigation channel unique to Madeira). The tour proceeds to the northwest side of the island where you can visit the Porto Moniz, famous for its volcanic rock pools. If it's not crowded, the tour will stop here for lunch and quick swim. You could also continue down the scenic coastal route to Seixal for lunch and a swim. After lunch you will travel the coastal road, taking in the famous waterfalls en route to São Vincente. Then discover Encumeada Pass. The views here are breathtaking. Enjoy a final stop at a famous bar where the proprietors make "Poncha," a traditional spirit drink mixed with honey and orange juice. Return to the hotel at around 17:00.

The walk on a levada could not take place because of a construction site. Apparently, this construction site has existed for 2 years - you could change the description of the tour accordingly! My tip: pack a towel and bathing suit, because in Porto Moniz you could swim in natural bathing pools made of volcanic rock - you would have enough time, since the walk is canceled anyway. The “visit to a famous bar” didn't take place either - or should that have been the souvenir shop we stopped at on the way over the pass!?! All in all, we still liked this excursion, which was also due to our guide Bruno, who was able to tell us a lot of interesting things about Madeira - in German, English and Spanish - fluently!!! And at the same time drove extremely confidently on the mostly narrow, winding and steep roads - multitasking talent!

Excellent informative friendly efficient guide and driver. A brilliant trip overall certainly glad we decided last minute to undertake it Thank you Bruno !! Only slight disappointment was the lack of Levada walk .. we were looking forward to that .. otherwise worth doing for a Tour of the East & some of the North coast of Madeira !!

Tour was great, our guide was very informative. We booked an English speaking tour, but we were with 80 percent French tourist. Our guide had to switch languages quite often which was not his fault. The van had very little leg room which was an issue for the tall people on the tour. All in all, weather was good and most enjoyed themselves.
