    Full description
    Madeira offers untold beauty, friendly locals, and incredible "Levada" or irrigation channels that lead directly to the Atlantic Ocean. Today, you will explore these levadas with your guide. Starting from Queimadas Forestall Park, you will wander through lush vegetation and charming stone pathways deep into the forest. Along the way, you will pass by incredible views of Santana and São Jorge, and even have a chance to snap some pictures of the Verde lagoon and waterfall. Your 4.5-hour walk takes you through a diverse landscape of flora and fauna, and your guide will help you make sense of the varieties of life around here. Your trip will be well guided, and we even have torches and walking sticks to make your trek more pleasant. Once we reach the Caldeirão Verde waterfall, we will have a 30 minute picnic in this idyllic landscape before returning back to the starting point.

    Know before you go

    • For your picnic lunch we suggest that you bring a 1.5 liter bottle of water, and anything you wish to eat. Walking shoes or boots are advisable for this walks. In the winter months something warm to wear as well as a waterproof. In the summer months a hat and sun protection is also needed. Do not forget to bring a camera.
    • Please note that this tour is day trip of about 7 hours with 4.5 hours walking, 2 hours transfer time and half an hour picnic.

    The most amazing experience! Our guide Suzanna and driver George we’re both amazing! Suzanna was So enthusiastic which made the walk even more enjoyable. The views are absolutely amazing, it is truly a once in a lifetime trip. The walk is a good pace, you stop occasionally to learn about the flora and fauna which is very interesting. It’s a flat walk so no hard steep bits, it’s a long walk so you do feel tired after and you do have to watch your step as you walk. It also adds some thrill that you have the levada one side and the edge of the mountain the other but our guide helped us the whole way. 100% recommend.

    The walk is memorable.. the scenery changes at every corner and is always breath taking. Even if the path is entirely flat it is narrow half of the way with dramatic falls and slippery ground…i have a fear of hight and i did it anyway.. it is something not to miss…
