Madeira: Half-Day Coasteering Tour

2. Madeira: Half-Day Coasteering Tour

"Coasteering" is a sports activity that allows one to progress along the coast, whether along a beach or a cliff. Along the way, you can make use of swimming, diving, snorkeling, climbing, traveling through caves or tunnels, and jumping into the water. Madeira has excellent conditions for this sport due to its lava and rocks shores, allowing visitors to swim in the crystal clear warm water. The waters form pristine views, with the mountain flowing almost into the sea. These activities take place on the southeast coast of Madeira, specifically in Baia d’Abra (Caniçal), a natural park of breathtaking beauty. The jumps, which are all optional, are between 1 and 10 meters high. Coasteering can be done by families, groups, or individuals of all ages, providing they can swim. Throughout the whole route, participants will be led by guides and instructors who will assist everyone in terms of safety techniques and all procedures.

Madeira allows a 10 minute contact with a group of dolphins. In the meantime, everyone who wants to snorkel must get into the water. Four are allowed to enter the water at the same time, lying in the water on ropes attached to the boat. So you don't have that much time. However, I think the regulation is very good and that it is being implemented. Because it is about the welfare of the animals and that is really important. We also saw sperm whales with babies on the tour. And that in December. We were also looking for other groups of dolphins, but unfortunately we had no luck there. Still, it was a great experience. For people with seasickness (like me), the small boat is really at the mercy of the waves when standing still. I was sick as hell. I would still do it again if I was there again. Wetsuits were provided free of charge. The biologist who accompanied us was very nice and explained everything well.

Incredible experience where we could spot whales (three meters from the boat!!!) and swim next to the dolphins dragged by the speedboat! Beautiful how much the tour is based on respect for the animals' tranquility, each step is done with the utmost care so as not to disturb their peace! Thanks to all the staff!!!

It was very beautiful. The boat ride alone was fun. We saw a lot of pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins. Unfortunately we didn't find any other dolphins to surf into the water with. It was still worth it. I was there at the end of December.

Great trip! We got to see dolphins and a fin whale, which was a rare sighting. I got to see the dolphins under water from a distance. It was great to get in the ocean and have that experience.

It was a unique adventure. It was a combination of swimming, jumping, and even climbing. Really recommend it.
