Full description
Imagine walking into the French Quarter and being swept away by the oldest, most eccentric neighborhood in the city of New Orleans. History, architecture, stories, restaurants, and museums await you on this one hour stroll. Your licensed tour guide will take you deeply into 300 years of history, including French, Spanish and many other cultures, who contributed to the nature of the French Quarter as it is today. Be amazed by the history of many famous restaurants, their beginnings, specialties and often special menus. Napoleon House is not only a restaurant, but has quite a story, concerning Napoleon Bonaparte. Visit the site of the beginning of the Fire of 1788. Learn how this disaster began, the devastation and the rebuilding of the French Quarter. Enjoy the beauty of the colorful architecture, as you take in why it has changed since the French founded the city. See where the Louisiana Purchase was signed. Visit the original beginnings of the city at Jackson Square and wonder at the history and architecture of St. Louis Cathedral and the surrounding buildings. This tour is a leisurely stroll, full of information you never knew about the amazing, sometimes breathtaking, French Quarter.
