Many people give five stars on tour reviews but this is a sincere 5 +++ our guide was early, well organized, patient (we had one group member who had health issues related to the climb of the dome). She was extremely knowledgeable, articulate, and even sprinkled in some great humour.

Great leadership. Our guide, Giacomo, explained many interesting facts about the construction and history of the cathedral to us on the way to the dome (463 steps) in a captivating and exciting way. After the climb (and a breather), we were rewarded with a fantastic view over the entire city.

Brunelleschi’s Dome: 4 stars Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information on the planning and design of Brunelleschi’s dome. We left feeling like we understood just how innovative and genius the design was, even considering the present day. The climb to the top was not as difficult as we anticipated and the pace our guide kept was great. She even took care of a group member that did not like hikes, while accommodating everyone else as well. However, we did not feel that we did not get enough of a guided explanation of the Cathedral itself, since we started with the timed dome climb immediately. We thoroughly enjoyed the Cathedral museum tour and the facts she gave us about the baptistry’s doors the rivalry between Brunelleschi and another artist. Overall, the view from the top of the dome is absolutely unforgettable and the guided tour made everything even more enjoyable! Also note that this tour gives you tickets with access to the baptistry and bell tower!
