  • From Amsterdam: Giethoorn & Enclosing Dike Full-Day Tour

    1. From Amsterdam: Giethoorn & Enclosing Dike Full-Day Tour

Climb aboard an air-conditioned coach and travel through a typical Dutch landscape for 1.5 hours en route to the picturesque town of Giethoorn. Experience how the Dutch people live with, and on, the water upon arrival, and set off to explore on foot and by boat. Enjoy the peace and quiet of a town where cars are forbidden and little has changed over the centuries. Admire the many types of boats in the town, from gondolas to punters and flat-bottom vessels used as transportation on the canals. Cruise past the skillfully restored farmhouses on a 1-hour boat trip, and get some free time for lunch and to explore on your own. Get tips from your guide on what to see and where to eat. The tour will continue to the Enclosing Dike (Afsluitdijk), the 32 kilometer dike connecting the provinces of North Holland and Friesland. The Netherlands is famed the world over for the way it deals with water ...

It was a long drive but its worth the time I had spent in giethoorn the tour guide gave us like more than 3 hours to roamed around in the village.

Never knew Leeuwarden had such a rich history! Jelle Nauta was our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide from Leeuwarden. He took us up the Oldehove tower, past beautiful buildings from the golden age and shared the stories dating back to the roots of Dutch Royalty. His calm demeanor and passion for Frysian culture was a pleasure. One note for the agency: ensure the right pricing and direct connection with GetYourGuide (rather than through another agency) because a private walking tour of 2 hours should not cost €250. It should be affordable for more people to enjoy.

Excellent tour, the place is incredibly beautiful, the attention and dedication of the guide, Ivette is simply excellent, as well as Tom the bus driver. Very well explained, not only do you enjoy but you learn a lot. Highly recommended and congratulations to the tour collaborators.

The open air museum was very good. Since the house museum is being rebuilt and there was no information before, we had less fun.

The Giethoorn tour, passing through the closing dock, is highly recommended! The town is fairy tale! Worth knowing.

We really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide was excellent. Very happy with this experience.
