Good transportation (very good driver), food and location in the desert, but fake guides at Ait Ben Haddou who pretend that are working with getyourguide! Also the camel trek it's an amazing experience. We didn't have a guide with us ... it was only transportation and a few words from the berbers in the desert. The driver is hand in hand with the fake guide from Ait Ben Haddou which is waiting for you when the bus arrives and tells you that he is your guide and you have to pay 25 dhs/pers to guide you in Ait Ben Haddou (also the entrance included in this price - which is also a bullshit, because it's free). Also the fake guide becomes violent if you told him that he fooled you and you don't want to pay for the "guide". Overall a great experience if you get out of the calculation the other minor problems with organization.
The minibus arrived on time in the morning. The driver was experienced, which was important in the mountain roads. We sticked to the program, and arrived on time in the Sahara to see the sunset. Dinner and breakfast was good, the whole place was cosy enough for Western tourists, and we met some nice Berber people. We had enough opportunities during the whole journey to take photos, and there were enough stops to use the toilette (though toilettes in the Atlas mountain are not really welcoming). The driver took us to a nice place to have lunch on both days (prices were okay). I would only note that the guide in Ait Ben Haddou cost 4 euros, not 2 (as it was indicated when we booked the tour). However, it was worth it, and it was a good part of the tour. I definitely recommend the tour, it gives lasting memories.
We really loved the camel trek! If anything I’d go for the 3 day if you have time to really get out to the sand dunes because we didn’t have the picturesque desert that I thought we’d have! BUT that being said everything was so amazing and the tents were fantastic and the Berber people were the nicest! It doesn’t feel like a long car ride because of all the great stops along the way! I do wish that our guide would have put us next to or near each other because the ride back I could barely see my husband because he was in a different camel train. Really lovely and highly recommended experience though!
We’ve had a great experience with this trip. Our driver Mohamed Bajo was waiting for us near our Riad in time and perfectly drove us anywhere with several stops at hotspots to take pictures and enjoy the view or have a break. Riding the camels to the camp was also very fun and the overall experience at the desert was really worth the long drive! The only downside is that it’s really hot in the desert, so we would recommend not to go there when it’s above 35 degrees, since there are no air conditioners obviously.
This trip was fantastic! Such an experience, riding camels in the desert and sleeping under the stars. definitely worth your money :) just keep in mind it is an 8 hour drive both ways (from Marrakech) so if you don’t do well with long car rides maybe this isn’t for you. Also make sure to take motion sickness medicine with you, lots of water, sunglasses and a scarf if you can (to avoid having to buy overpriced ones on the way). The facilities are very good at the camp.
