Full description
Sure, you’ve seen photos of California’s beautiful coastline, but you have no idea how amazing they really are until you see it for yourself. They will be just the beginning of this stunning sights and experiences tour of Northern California. This small group tour will visit Monterey and Yosemite National Park to visit some unique places.

You’ll start out in style when the luxury coach pulls up and your guided tour begins headed toward Monterey. In Monterey, let your guide know if you’d like to add tickets to the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium or just use your leisure time to dive into water sports or walk the city’s historic streets. Keep your eyes pealed for glimpses of sea otters, elephant seals, humpback whales, white sharks and much more. You’ll get more than an eyeful as your guide slow the pace a bit on the 17-Mile Drive starting in Pacific Grove and winding toward Pebble Beach. You’ll admire the tenacity of the Lone Cypress tree before having a couple of hours stroll the sidewalks and beaches of Carmel by the Sea. Your small group will return Monterey in time for warm welcome reception hosted by your Expedition Leader. Choose your restaurant for dinner, from over 20-30 ocean-view businesses.

After an early breakfast, head for Yosemite Valley. Your entrance to Yosemite Valley will be at the Mariposa Grove, where 500 Giant Sequoia trees soar to the heavens. The flat, two-mile Grizzly Giant Loop Trail (Important: winter condition may prevent being able to access the grove) introduces you to the Bachelor, Three Graces, Grizzly Giant and California Tunnel trees. During your Yosemite adventure spot at Inspiration Point and El Capitan Meadow. You’ll see the spellbinding beauty of Half Dome, Lower Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Falls. Your guide will provide engaging details about the history, geology and wildlife that will enhance the outdoor experience. In this glacier-carved valley, you’ll also have time for hiking the trail to the top of Nevada Falls (strenuous) or take an hour or two on the relaxing mist trail. Depending on the weather, you can cool off in waters of the Merced River, rent bikes and ride to visit the Ansel Adams Gallery.

Relive the Gold Rush, then explore charming Sausalito after a relaxing night at a cozy retreat with views and tasty continental breakfast. Leave the national park and head for the Gold Rush town of Columbia where you can soak up the ‘Old West’. For an additional cost you can add a stagecoach ride (seasonal) or a gold panning experience to this memorable stop. By afternoon, your tour arrives in the Marin Headlands of Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay in the late-afternoon sun.
