What people are saying about York
We were a group of ten (four from US and six from U.K.). I had planned this lunch cruise as part of a day in York with our U.K. relatives who live about 35 minutes from York. We headed out from Wakefield with lots of time to spare but the traffic suddenly stopped on the highway and there we sat. We watched the time slip away and knew we would miss our tour and lunch. When we finally arrived 15 minutes late, there was our boat! The skipper had asked the other passengers and crew if they could give us that 15 minutes to get there and they agreed. They all clapped when we boarded. I was so relieved! The staff were friendly and the food delicious. I looked at my phone and saw that a representative had emailed me to let me know the skipper was trying to reach me. I emailed back to let him know we had made it. Thank you, Neil, for your great customer service! I can’t say enough good things about this company.
The drive is slightly tedious from York, but once in the house where the Brontë sisters created masterpieces, all that is forgotten and the mind tries to grasp the creative genius of three brilliant, wildly creative sisters. The Brontë Parsonage exudes a wonderful aura. The exhibit almost makes their bursting imagination come alive, and for fans of their great books, and I am one, being in their home is a thrill.
This tour was led by a knowledgeable and friendly gentleman who was obviously passionate about the history and archaeology of York. He brought together the important events of English history as it affected and influenced the development of York from Roman times to the present day. Well done indeed.
We were very lucky to have our guide, Alfred, to ourselves. He was so knowledgeable and we learnt a huge amount about York, it’s history and important buildings. My husband has been re-telling some of the stories ever since. We would highly recommend both the tour and Alfred. Thank you.
Wonderful view of the city, carefully and intelligently put together. Very knowledgable and humorous anecdotes helped make a great experience. Really polite and respectful approach to the group, well done Alfred.
