I recommend everyone to purchase tickets ahead on line. Nobody had told me , so I stayed in a long line untilI I realized prepaid line was no waiting. I booked myself a ticket while standing and quickly moved to the other window (no line). That was a good move. The site is kind of far. Everyone has to take a shuttle bus. The site was roped around, which in a way, was very good as we could see the stones without people around. This site is a known power site. I had a feeling coming through .
Well organized tour, allowing the right amount of time to visit the site. But what really made our day was the driver Massimo, who also acted as a tour guide in London giving us an overview and telling us nice stories about the city. This is what we really consider going above and beyond and we really appreciated this extra touch. thank you Massimo! Caterina & Gaia
From the information centre to the stones you can either catch a shuttle bus or walk along the side of the road or through fields and woods by barrows. Just make sure you have your ticket with you if you separate from your group to walk or catch the bus ect (they stapel your tickets together in one bundle), as they won’t let you in when you turn up to the stones.
I had no idea it was so far from London (my fault). We were pressed for time, and the lines were long. You weren't able to get close, everything was roped off. I guess it's so there's not people in everyone's photos. It would have been nice to get closer. And the price was a little more than I had anticipated.
The stones themselves are great to look at and the information available is excellent. Staff are only to willing to provide any assistance and are very knowledgeable. The gift shop has all manner of Stonehenge memorabilia and you can find any kind of souvenir or keepsake for yourself or others.
