Day 1: Arrive Vientiane (D)
Upon arrival in Vientiane, you will be transferred to your hotel. Vientiane is a spacious and charming city. It is South-East Asia's smallest capital and has only about 500,000 citizens - which makes it the most tranquil and laid-back capital of Asia. This afternoon enjoy an orientation tour including the Victory monument, Wat That Luang, the Central Market, Wat Sisaket and Wat Prakeo National Museum. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 2: Vientiane - Luang Prabang (B/L)
This morning you will fly from Vientiane to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. In 1995 UNESCO declared the entire town of Luang Prabanga World Heritage Site. Nestled in the mountains at the confluence of the Mekong and Khan Rivers, this former royal capital is one of the most delightful towns in all of Asia. Small enough to explore on foot, the town reveals its charm and history at every turn, with gilded temples on nearly every corner and saffron robed monks strolling the quiet streets. The local markets offer produce, as well as silver and textiles; Hmong tribeswomen come here to shop.

Today, begin to explore this charming town, starting with a visit to Wat Xieng Thong, arguably the most stunning in the country, with its brilliant mosaics. Continue to the Palace Museum, which houses an eclectic collection, including statues, mosaic covered walls, French mirrors, and a piece of moon rock given to "the people ofLaos" by President Nixon. Late afternoon, head to the top of Mt Phousi, with its panoramic views of the city and the surrounding hills. The mountain is dotted with small shrines and monasteries. This is a perfect spot for sunset, as the golden spires of wats are beautifully illuminated.

Day 3: Luang Prabang (B/L)
This morning rise early to witness the monks in their morning meal procession. Return to your hotel for breakfast. Proceed with an excursion up theMekongRiverto the holy caves of Pak Ou, where some of the most famous Buddhist sculpture inSoutheast Asiais found. Reboard your boat and travel downstream to a rice-wine producing village on the banks of theMekong. Afterwards, visit Ban Phanom, a tribal village well known for its traditional Lao weaving in cotton and silk. Time is allotted for you to purchase some of these beautiful and inexpensive hand-woven cloths. Return to your hotel for the evening.
