What people are saying about Victoria, Australia
Our knowledgeable guide Peter added personality to our tour. I had previously visited the MCG to enjoy cricket and AFL matches. IMHO, the best sporting theatre in the world. On game day, the murmuring of excited fans as you get to the ground makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The atmosphere once inside is electric. Today's tour was different with only a few adults and school groups traversing the arena the 'G took on a Cathedral type atmosphere. Electricity replaced by respect in all sections. The sense of history, past glories and the humbleness of defeat was acute. The tributes to past champions invoked a feeling of deep admiration for their abilities, qualities and achievements. The tour also exposed the army of behind-the-scenes workers that it takes to run this small city. Passing the media room, I caught a glimpse of a ghostly figure. A silver head old man in a beige jacket looking over the ground and I swear I heard, "Marvellous shot that, it's 2/22". A must see.
Personally I found our guide a little rude but he was knowledgeable. Met a beautiful man in the museum-Wally could have spent all day just listening to his stories. He had we captivated from his first words. Thanks Wally a true gentleman x
Tour was great, just wish we had more time to actually look at things we were interested in eg. pictures of the wall and stats. Would have spent more time in the museum but had to leave to catch a plane. Loved it.
Missed out on going through the dressing rooms because there was a Shield game on but the tour was very factual and informative. I am a stats type of person and while it was information overload it was excellent.
We took our grandsons and they loved it..Being in the change rooms and the press rooms, seeing where the players walked up to start their game, plus all the memorabilia of the cricket ,was brilliant!
