Escape  the crowds of central  Venice  and explore the island of San Giorgio  Maggiore,  the pearl of Venice.  It is a perfect, quiet area to enjoy the beauty of Venice and to immerse yourself in history. With this experience you will admire the most important places in San Giorgio Island, discover exceptional art heritage, outside the usual tourist areas, and savor the flavors of food prepared at the San Giorgio Café, with true Sicilian cuisine - rich in flavours, scents, and feeling, combined with the Venetian gastronomical tradition.

Just a few minutes by bus-boat from Piazza San Marco you will experience the fascinating atmosphere of the Island as you listen to your  video-guide. Your small tour group (25 people maximum) will be escorted through the areas of the Giorgio Cini Foundation complex and of the Vatican Chapels by a multi-lingual staff member. After an escorted tour, you can visit the San Giorgio Bell Tower at your own pace.

Choose the time which interests you (morning or afternoon), show your voucher at the Ticket Office and you will receive a video guide included in the cost of the tour. The video guide is available in Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, and Russian.

Meeting point

Meeting point Giorgio Cini Foundation: Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice (ticket office on the left side of the church). From St Mark’s Square, turn left to the water front and make your way to the Zaccaria water bus (vaporetto) stop (foto della fermata). Take the number 2 vaporetto to the San Giorgio Island. It is the first stop and takes 5 minutes. Get off the vaporetto and the ticket office and bookshop is on the right, look for the large banner above the door.

Know before you go
• Some areas of the complex of Giorgio Cini Foundation may be closed during activities, concerts or other events
• In case of bad weather (heavy rain, snow, strong winds, exceptionally high or low tide levels) the tour will be suspended
• It is possible to change the time and date of the gondola tour by email or by arranging a new time and date directly to the ticket office
• The tour (without the time of the lunch) lasts about 2 hours
• The visiting times for going up the Bell Tower are: from April to October: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m; from November to March: 8.30 a.m. – 6 p.m
