What people are saying about Vatican City

Great experience despite how busy it is - worth getting skip the line

The skip the line ticket was a great recommendation from friends. We saved so much time and hassle by using this option. Even though it costs a little extra, I highly recommend it. If you don't like crowds then I highly suggest you don't go round these museums or go to the Sistine chapel. We did not go during peak season, but even so it was so busy that we were basically just pushed along the whole time. We somehow managed to get a few of the seats around the edge of the Sistine chapel and were glad of it so we could actually appreciate what we were seeing. You are otherwise made to stand in silence in the centre of the room, or ushered straight out. There was of course an overwhelming amount to see and it was a great (if claustrophobic) experience.

Great - 2nd group to enter the Sistine Chapel

As expected, got to enter the Sistine Chapel early. The initial group during the check-in is quite big and everyone will be split into smaller groups. Make sure to be one of the first few people in the line so you get into the first group. Tour was fast - our guide Marco explained as much as he could during the walk to the Sistine Chapel. After the Sistine Chapel, I suggest you stick around and follow another tour group to the St Peter's basilica by turning right instead of left to exit. You will have to wait a while but it's worth it having to skip the entrance line to the basilica. No tour of the entire Vatican museum so if that's what you're interested in, this is not for you.

This is the way to visit the Sistine Chapel

We were the first people into the Sistine Chapel on the day we visited. Within 15 minutes it was busy, but by then we'd had time to soak it up without the crowd. We were leaving St Peter's Basilica before 10am to wander round other parts of Rome, passing long queues waiting to go in. This is not an easy option and it's not cheap, but it is well worth doing.

Easy to get in, but oh, so many people inside...

We got more or less straight in, of course we had to line up for security like everyone lse, but that went quite fast. So no complaints as for tickets! However, both the museums and the Sistine Chapel were crammed with people, which also made the experience a little less grand.

Highly recommended! Literally Skip the line

The Basilica gets very crowded and you have to get in a long queue. With these tickets we were allowed to literally skip the line and enter the Basilica straightway. No waiting. However, the staff could have been more friendlier and answered out queries.
