What people are saying about Val d'Orcia

Good easy going relaxing tour of 3 Tuscan cities.

The day trips to 3 Tuscan cities plus a wine tasting visit of a wine producer, visiting his cellar and tasting 4 of his wines, was just great. Do remember this is not food tasting tour, so no lunches are provided, just bread and olive oil and cheese for the wine tasting. Each visit of the 2 old towns Pienza and Montalcino is about 1 hour each and the visit to Montepulciano old town is 1 and half hours to give time to those who opted to go on an optional half hour ride on the tourist train (additional charges to be incurred). Ana our tour guide was great and knowledgeable. She provided all the info you need before we arrive at any of the old towns. Then you have a free and easy self guided walk around town. It was just what I was looking for, as I don't like to be rushed and herded like sheep into towns from one location to another. I prefer to take my own time to explore the towns myself. Our gp was small about 15 of us, & contrary to other previous reviews, our bus was on time.

Good value. Good sites but too long of a day.

Good for wine tasting and sight seeing, but not really a food tour aside from what’s provided during wine tasting and what you buy for lunch. Bus ride was very comfortable. Great driver. Sight seeing/ shopping was a bit short in Montepulciano. Pick up for those originating in Siena was not well explained prior to the trip. Sites were excellent. Wine was particularly good for one of the two wineries. Two guides kept English/ Spanish audience well informed.

Great way to escape the city and explore antient times and wine

Overall it was a great experience! Although not much of a food tour as it was more of a wine tasting and exploration of beautiful antient towns in the hills of Tuscany. Great tour guide as we learned about the difference between wine regions and got to purchase some beautiful wine to drink on our trip. If you don't like big groups then I would shy away because we felt like a hurd of cattle. Still a full day of beauty and adventure and would recommend.

excellent itinerary with a couple of small glitches

Very good tour with the exception of the second "wine tasting " at Ercolani. This venue is not suitable for large groups of 40 odd; would be great in small groups maybe. The transport transfer at the end when the bus for our transfer back to Siena was not at the arranged place and we waited on the side of the road was unfortunate. Our guide forgot to introduce himself to the Siena group; other he was great. 8 / 10

wonderful views, worth it for transportation, very little food

This tour was excellent if you are looking for a way to get from town to town with renting a car. You spend about an hour or so in each town, which is generally enough time to walk through and enjoy the sights. This is definitely not a food tour so I'm not sure why it is labeled as such, although we did stop at one family winery which had great wine but with a slightly underwhelming tour.
