What people are saying about Torre Annunziata
My husband & I enjoyed seeing this amazing archeological site with our guide. She spoke English quite well & was very informative, unfortunately I don’t remember her name but I think it was Hillary. I can’t imagine seeing Pompeii for the first time without a tour guide. The site is huge & the guide told us details about each “building”. She gave us information about daily life in Pompeii, the eruption of Vesuvius and many more details about the bath houses, the “Red Light District”, the streets and so on. At the end of the tour we were allowed to stay at the site and see more things on our own. We took the local Circumvesuviana train from Sorrento to Pompeii & met our guide close to the train stop. The directions provided were helpful & easy to follow. The only reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars is because we felt that the guide was at times rushed and didn’t allow enough time to take pictures, we also had to walk fast to stay in the group.
This was a great tour. Our guide was passionate about Pompeii and shared with us many stories and facts that we would have never known if we visited by ourselves. We were a small group of 5 people and the pace of the visit was just right. She was very well prepared and very knowledgable about the place. We followed her suggested itinerary which was very helpful as Pompeii is otherwise huge, so we appreciated that she selected the key areas for us to visit. She also gave us recommendations on what else to go to see once the tour was over to make sure we get most of our time in Pompeii. She also had recommendations about Herculaneum and Naples which was a nice bonus.
I was totally captivated by Hilaria's interesting explanations of what we were looking at. I sometimes forgot that I wasn't alone...she made it easy for me to picture the life of the anciant romans in Pompeii. It was truly fascinating. Do NOT skip this tour with Hilaria. You will be happy you went! Thank you Hilaria! Ciao! Marc and Nancy, Canada (wear comfy shoes, like espadrilles, or walking sandals).
+3 hours in scorching heat with 2 young children and very crowded - didn't have good omens to begin with. But this tour was one of the highlights of the holiday and the guide brought Pompeii to life.
I would recommand this tour to everyone that does not speak Italian, but that wants the ins and out from a local.
