One World Trade Center might offer New York's highest observation deck, but the city's most beloved views can be seen from the Rockefeller Center and Empire State Building. Both offer their own Art Deco charm, but here's what else Top of the Rock's got!
The Top of the Rock observation deck spans three stories, with each adding its own unique touches to the views over Central Park and the Empire State Building!
In line with J.D. Rockefeller Jr.'s patronage of the arts, the views aren't all there is to see at the top! Currently featured is the dazzling "Radiance Wall" created by Swarovski.
The doors close and the lights go dim. Suddenly the top clears to reveal the inner workings of the dramatically lit elevator shaft as you hurtle upwards! The way down's great too!
Visiting with kids? Be sure to check out Top of the Rock's Breezeway attraction. They'll have great fun changing the colors of the room with their every move!
Hands down the best reason to visit the Top of the Rock is the hub of culture swimming at its feet. The Rockefeller Center is a must-do on any New York tourist itinerary!
The Top of the Rock Observation Deck is open daily from 8AM till midnight. The last elevator to the top departs at 11PM.
Ticket prices start at $30 for adults, with concessions for children and seniors. Tickets are available to buy at the entrance, but book online to avoid the lines.
We found the pass to be worth it when we added up the costs of what we did and what it would have cost to do them by paying separately. The pdf information the pass provided on the 100 included attractions was most helpful and maybe we could have gotten that from other sources but it worked out well for us to plan our itinerary from the list of things the pass would pay for. Not all of our activities that we did in NY were covered, but that still was OK. You need to calculate how much you think you're going to do on your trip to determine if it's good for you. We did not feel like we were running all over to do things to make it worth it, but we were busy most days all day long.
Very enjoyable. Pre bought tickets which enabled us to skip the queue although there was still quite a few people there. A bit crowded on top. Which was a bit of a concern regarding safety. Good selection of souvenirs pricey though. Most staff friendly and professional.
Fantastic experience, excellent staff and well managed with excellent facilities and large viewing platforms. however a little confused on where to actually start, a few more signs might help and a too many guests allowed at same time.
The ideal time to visit is 30 minutes before sunset to get dusk and then night time panorama. We pre booked the time slot 24 hours before attending. Easy checkin process and with security etc you are up the top in 20 minutes
We bought the pass and I was a bit worried that we wouldn’t get our monies worth but it exceeded expectations. We saw so many sights included was hop on hop off bus and water taxi. Easy to use and good value for money.
