Full description
The official JR Rail Pass gives you full access to the public transport networks throughout the four main northern islands of Japan, Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. Okinawa is not included in this pass.

These comfortable trains feature frequent departures, have space to store your luggage and offer a selection of cabin upgrades make travel in Japan a pleasure. Savings are assured thanks to the unlimited rides you can take from the far north to the deep south.

You can switch from the train network to local JR buses to reach more remote locations.

After ordering your pass, an exchange voucher will be sent to you wherever you are in the world or alternatively sent to your hotel in Japan or a pre-arranged pick-up point. This voucher then needs to be exchanged at any bullet train station for your pass.

The official JR Rail Whole Japan Pass includes:
• All JR Group shinkansen bullet trains, except the Nozomi and Mizuho departures
• All JR Group limited express, express, rapid, local, trains, and Bus Rapid Transit in Tohoku
• Tokyo Monorail between Haneda airport and Tokyo (no service to Narita)
• Aomori Railway services between Aomori and Hachinohe (some exceptions)
• Ishikawa Railway services between Kanazawa and Tsubata (local, limited departures only)
• Ainokaze Toyama Railway services between Toyama and Takaoka (local departures only)
• All JR Bus local lines (some exceptions, no express services) including services from JR Hokkaido Bus, JR Bus Tohoku, JR Bus Kanto, JR Tokai Bus, West Japan JR Bus, Chugoku JR Bus, JR Shikoku Bus, and JR Kyushu Bus
• JR-West ferry service between Miyajima and Miyajimaguchi (near Hiroshima)

Know before you go
• This pass is not available for citizens of Japan
• After ordering your pass, an exchange voucher will be sent to you wherever you are in the world or alternatively sent to your hotel in Japan or a pre-arranged pick-up point. This voucher then needs to be exchanged at any bullet train station for your pass
• Delivery in Japan will take 2 - 3 working days
• Delivery outside of Japan will take around 7 working days
• Japanese railway stations have a lot of stairs, so please travel light, or courier your luggage forward
• Trains can get crowded, so plan your schedule around rush hours
• Upgrades to Green car, rapid trains, and Nozomi/Mizuho shinkansen will require additional payments prior to boarding
* Reserving a seat is free, but you can only do so after validating your pass in Japan
• Children aged 6 - 11 can use a discounted children's pass
• Babies and infants travel free but may have to share parent's seat on crowded trains
