What people are saying about Tinghir
Lots of these tours had mixed reviews but we decided to go for it anyway. It was a fantastic trip to the Sahara. The driving is long and tiring, but comfortable with a rest stop every 90 minutes. The food included was really good and the places for lunch were really nice too (yes more expensive but the food was delicious). Some reviews moaned about having to pay for the tour on Day 1 but it was only 25 dirhams (£2!). Our driver was good, fast but careful. The dunes were incredible and we rode the camels at sunset and sunrise the next morning - both times it was long enough. I was worried about the desert camp being too close to the hotel but it was fine - you still felt like you were in the desert. The last day was 11 hours in the minivan driving back which was tough - take earphones! The desert gets cold at night so take a coat and layers for when the sun comes up. We were taken to a rug shop but we learnt a lot and there was no pressure to buy anything! Fantastic value for money
We had an amazing trip with desert travels. The several stops were impressive, starting with the snowy Atlas Mountains and ending with the sand dunes of Merzouga. Overall the trip was well organized and our guide Reda did a wonderful job. Our only complaint / recommendation to future travelers is that the lunch options and not included aspects (I.e. Village tours) were more expensive than indicated, usually double the price. For lunch, only touristy "menu options" were offered, which were pricey and sub paar for Moroccan standards. Also a tough trip back on the last day for the 3-day tour, so if you have the time, consider going on the 4-day tour to avoid a 12+ hour drive on the way back. Thanks again and we can definitely recommend this trip!!
The tour was well organised and ran very smoothly. Our driver was very kind and kept us in the loop. The accommodation on both nights was very nice, however the desert camp was very basic. There are good vegetarian options at all meals, however if you are vegan be prepared to eat a lot of (very nice) bread. While there is no time when the official tour company exposes you to any local vendors, when local guides take you through there are a few awkward moments if you don’t want to buy anything, however everyone was very kind and not pushy anyway. All in all this tour made our trip to Morocco incredible and is very very worth the money spent.
Great experience! The guide (Reda) was informative and a very safe driver. I was very worried about driving such long distances, but I truly felt safe the entire time. Definitely pay more for the luxury camp! You get to go much further into the desert, and you get a nicer camp with flush toilets/showers and fewer people (only 18 people were at the luxury camp when 50+ were at the "normal" camp sharing a bathroom without flush toilets). The stops along the way to the desert were also interesting and informative. I was happy for the opportunity to learn more about the Berber people.
Exactly as advertised. You get to see several beautiful places and everything is coordinated quite well, but its alot of driving! Great value considering all that is included. Quality of food fluctuates depending on the day, but did have some good meals. If you are determined to see the a snip of the Atlas Mountain and the sandy parts of the Sahara this trip is worth it. Our main driver, Ali, was very kind and helpful and arranging pick-up/drop-off was easy.
