What people are saying about Temple Bar
Our first driver did not use the recorded guide. He did it live! He did it with style! He did it with PASSION! He made the journey through the streets of Dublin secondary to his amazing, interesting and factual repartee. His amusing asides were second to none...e.g., a fire tender was coming up behind, siren sounding. 'Oh no, there is a fire tender coming up behind' he said, 'This is bad. I think the might have spotted me...My first wife ran off wife a fireman...Well, I'm not stopping. They might want to give her back!'...BRILLIANT!! Alas for us, he came to the end of his shift and the next driver was just that...a driver. Sure he was safe. He was courteous. But he was just...well 'workman like'
We had a long layover in Dublin and used the Hop On-Hop Off to get an overview of the sights. The bus stops were easy to find, and buses generally stopped every 20 minutes or so. In only one case was seating an issue, and we chose to wait for the next bus which appeared within 5 minutes. Guides/Drivers were personable and humorous. We booked the 3-day ticket online ahead of time. We were not aware of the 1 or 2 day options, which may have been better for our situation.
Our driver for the first part of our trip was Andrew. We was funny, informative, helpful and entertaining. The final leg of the tour was done when it was dark and the town was glowing with Christmas lights. Very pretty to see, but for sightseeing the earlier you start the day the better.
By far this is the best way to see the city of Dublin. Excellent deal for the cost and extremely convenient for times between buses...virtually little waiting times. This is also an excellent pass to purchase as it also picks up at the airport to Dublin.
Its really great to see the highlights in three hour by bike. After the tour you can choose witch museum you want to visit. Julian is enthousiatic and can tell a lot about the history and important buildings.
