Full description
After being collected from your Tbilisi accommodation, the first place you will visit will be Svetitskhoveli, the Cathedral patriarchal temple of the Georgian orthodox church in honor of the Twelve Apostles. Throughout the millennium, this was the main cathedral of all of Georgia. Following this impressive construction, you will move to the Samtavro Monastery, a complex from the Samtavro-Church of the transfiguration and convent of Saint Nino. This was considered the first church at this location, and was constructed in the 4th century by Mirian III.

The next place on your tour will be Jvari, the Georgian monastery and a former temple of the first half of the 7th century. It is located on a mountain top where, according to historical sources, Saint Nino himself erected a cross. This monument became Georgia’s first monument of World heritage in 1994.

Your final destination will be Uplistsikhe, an ancient cave city. Uplistsikhe is cut into rock and located 12 kilometers to the east of the city of Gori on the left river bank Kura. The city arose at the beginning of the 1st millennium B.C., and endured several rises and recessions. It is a multilayered archaeological object, and one of the most important monuments of Georgian culture. At the conclusion of your day, you will be driven back to Tbilisi where you will be returned to your point of origin.
