Full description
Be collected at your accommodation and head to Borjomi. Borjomi is located in the southeast of Georgia in the gorge of the Kura River, at a height between 810 and 850 meters above sea level. Borjomi is a group of low-mountain resorts surrounded by the massif covered with softwood and broad-leaved forests. The climate is of a moderate temperature both in summer and in winter.

Borjomi is known for the medicinal mineral water, which is applied as a drink for various diseases. These include disease of the digestive tract, metabolism, and kidneys. The water was used to make a bath for those suffering from cardiovascular disease or diseases of the nervous system and respiratory system. Archeological excavations found stone bathtubs with evidence indicating that the curative properties of the mineral water were known and used in ancient times.

Your next destination is Rabati Fortress, a medieval fortress is in the small town of Akhaltsikhe. The fortress was formed around the town and translates to ‘the new fortress’. It is not known when the construction began but the first written account of the fortress is from the 12th century. The fortress has been destroyed several times, usually in a siege, and as a result, has retained evidence of different cultures and religions.

In 2012, a large reconstruction of the fortress took place and Rabati Fortress in Akhaltsikhe turned into a town within a town. It has become not only a historical monument but a real cultural city center. Here, you can explore the church, mosque, synagogue, park, history museum, various shops and hotels, and even the civil registry office inside the fortress walls. At the end of your day, you will be driven back to Tbilisi and returned to your accommodation.
