Great tour and day! A wonderful way to get a taste of Tangier and our local guide went beyond my expectations! He spoke many languages, very nice, and knowledgeable. I stayed in Algeciras and used the free bus service run by FRS to and from Tarifa easily (notify compony before using). My ticket was moved up from 10:30 to 8:30, because FRS was short one ferry, so we got an extra 2 hours in Tangier, for a total of 9 hours. The first part of the trip and bus ride is pretty fast (obviously the bus can't stop in the middle of the road), still got to see nice parts of the city and the coast is beautiful! The cave is small, but had time to see it all. The camel ride is short, but fun. The walk around the town is the largest part of the trip. Got to see interesting sights, markets and customs. Felt very safe. No food for vegetarians at lunch, bring food and water! People will come up to you to sell things, but give them respect! It is better then begging for money. I would do the tour again!
We were met at Tarifa Port as arranged to receive paperwork (tickets and immigration papers). After baggage control we were on boat and queuing for immigration which didn't take too long. On arrival in Tangier we were met by our guide and the 13 of us set off in a mini bus. We headed out of Tangier to see where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, partake in the shortest camel ride ever (only 2 euros though) and visit the Caves of Hercules. At both camels and caves Moroccans appear as if from nowhere and try to sell their wares. I quite enjoyed the 'banter' but other members of the group not so much. After a wander through the market we went for lunch. Considering this was part of a package tour we were pleasantly surprised. Spiced soup, chicken skewers, cous cous, veg and chicken followed by a little biscuit (drinks €1.50 extra). We then had some free time for shopping or getting hassled depending on your point of view. We (family of 4) really enjoyed the day. We'll worth it.
We were well taken care of from start to finish. The reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is because the tour abruptly ended after lunch and we were hustled back to the ferry. We were told it was because of bad weather but the crossing was actually smoother than the one in the morning to Tangier.
The guide was good but should have warned us he was taking us to a herbalist to try and get us to buy stuff- should have been honest as I felt sorry for the guy trying to sell us oils que on ferry to have passports stamped was ridiculous
We loved!!! Rajid was amazing. He was funny, informational, and great at keeping our tour on time. We’ve experienced many tours and he has been one of the best around the world!
