Day 1
Departing from Takayama station in the morning, travel into the beautiful Northern Alps. Head to the Kamikochi valley, famous for its pristine natural state, beautiful rivers and ponds, lush forests, and dramatic mountain peaks rising to over 3000 meters. Discover the area's many walking trails and highlights with the help of your expert guide.

Visit breathtaking sites such as the Asuza River, Taisho Pond, and the iconic Kappabashi (Kappa Bridge). You can access these easily via the area's walking trails and, if you wish, your guide will be happy to accompany you.

Afterward, begin your journey toward Matsumoto. Explore the historic grounds and building of Matsumoto Castle, one of the last remaining original castles in Japan and a registered National Treasure. Head to Nagano in the afternoon, where you will spend the night.

Day 2
Get picked up from your hotel in the morning and head to Zenko-ji, a registered national treasure and the most important cultural site in Nagano. Enjoy a guided tour of the temple followed by some free time to explore the surrounding precinct of smaller temples and shops by yourself before heading for lunch. Savor a delicious meal showcasing the best of Nagano's food culture, from sushi to hotpot and Nagano-style chicken with grilled vegetables.

No visit to Nagano is complete without delving into Japan’s most famous beverage. Dip your toes into this seductive world as your guide explains the process, terminology, and appreciation of Nagano’s acclaimed sake (non-alcoholic options also available).

Well-fed and warmed by sake, leave Nagano and travel to the Snow Monkey Park. Follow the forest trail which leads to the park and into Jigokudani. Get up close and personal with these curious creatures and observe them in close proximity before heading back to Nagano in the evening.
