What people are saying about St. Peter's Basilica

Brilliant experience with very informative and passionate guides.

Met with our guide, Serena, easily for the Ancient Rome tour, who spoke perfect English and took time to explain everything. Her knowledge was extensive and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the experience and take photos. The Colosseum and Forum were very busy but Serena was able to make it seem unhurried. Serena was also very helpful in explaining the meeting point for our afternoon tour. A truly enjoyable morning for our family (including teenage children), made easy by Serena. In the afternoon our guide, Barbara for the Museum and Vatican City tour, again spoke perfect English. Again very knowledgable and experienced. Barbara took the time to explain the important art before entering the museums which was extremely helpful especially to our teenage children. The tour was very enjoyable and informative. We had been to the Vatican before but discovered new treasures which we hadn't seen before! Both guides were exceptional and made both experiences highly enjoyable.

Whether to give our guides Serena and Marta 5 out of 5 or a Big 6!!

We had searched the internet for a comprehensive tour prior to going and after reading the reviews, we chose this one. The biggest surprise was that it was cheaper than the other tours!! Everything went very smoothly including regular updates via our emails and mobiles during our stay regarding meeting points and timings etc. Our day was split between the Colosseum and The Vatican and therefore we had two guides, both of them qualified historians and archaeologists in their own right and all in perfect English. The queues were massive, but having the prepaid tickets that were organised we just walked in! Thank you Serena & Marta and Mea Tours. Best Wishes Alex & Karen.

Linda in Vatican & Massimo in Colosseum & city tour were brilliant!

Had a combined same day tour : with a beautiful, witty & fun Sicilian tour guide lady Linda (Cristina) at 8.30am in Vatican - the only one to visit Rafael Rooms as well & not crowded as usual; and with Massimo of Coliseum, Rome Forum, Paladine Hill, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon & Piazza Navona - both excellent , informative but also easy tours & guides! Highly recommended & cheaper & any other option. Quite intense to fit in one day but very doable, enough time in between for a lunch & getting to the other meeting point. Kids 8y.o. & 12y.o. survived & enjoyed!

Vatican Tour was Excellent, the Ancient Rome Tour was Mediocre!

Ludwig, our Vatican tour guide was excellent! He was very knowledgable and passionate about the artwork we were reviewing. This tour was definitely worth the money! Our afternoon Ancient Rome tour was a real disappointment! Our tour guide, Barbara, rambled on ad nauseam and it was very hard to make sense of her commentary. At times, she seemed to be talking to herself. At the end of the tour, we were left in the middle of Rome with no idea as to how to get back to our hotel (and no help from Barbara). Not a very nice way to end the tour!

Vatican City & Ancient Rome: One Day Combo Tour Reviewed by Elizabeth (Betty), 07/08/2017

Great way to see many places in one day. Cultural overload though!

We visited the Vatican early in the day and it wasn't too busy. Don't forget to have your knees and shoulders covered, even in really hot weather. Our guide Ivana was really passionate about the Vatican and knowledgeable about art. After a trip on the subway we arrived at the Colloseum. It was very hot and we saw a lot. It was almost too much to take in after the Vatican in the morning. Still, this tour achieved the aim of fitting everything into one day. The chocolate gelato near the Trevi fountain was GREAT.
