What people are saying about Southern Region, Iceland

Great tour all around! Don't drive yourself when you can do this.

The staff at NiceTravel was helpful and organized, and made sure we got off to a great start. The small tour bus was much nicer than a big coach. It was comfortable, let us go places we couldn’t in a coach, and let us to spend more time at the sites. Robert, our tour guide, was great. He made sure we got the most out of each stop, and personalized the tour for each group. The stops were long enough so we never felt rushed, and we had plenty of time to ourselves to explore. Booking a room with private bath, we were the only couple taken to the Hotel Anna, which was a great experience by itself, with a quaint Icelandic feel, and attentive staff. The rest of the group at the guesthouse came back with some great northern lights pictures. The trip from Reykjavik to Jokulsarlon is very long, and if you want to see great waterfalls along the way, stop at a black sand beach, then see glaciers, the Diamond Beach, glacier lagoon, and take a monster truck ride to an ice cave, this is your tour.

Glacier Lagoon, Blue Ice Cave & Waterfalls: 2-Day Tour Reviewed by Anonymous, 03/03/2019

A tour that will exceed your expectations!

Lovely evening trip to the Secret Lagoon, then to dinner followed by a northern lights hunt. There’s a lot packed into this excursion yet it still felt leisurely, not overwhelming. The Secret Lagoon was relaxing and not overcrowded. The dinner consisted of a delicious creamy mushroom soup, a buffet main course and a nice light chocolate cake for dessert. Everything tasted so fresh and satisfying. After dinner we were off to search for a view of the Northern Lights. I have to say, I thought this portion of the excursion would have been canceled due to cloud coverage (earlier in the evening our hotel had posted signs indicating that all Northern Lights tours had been cancelled due to weather conditions). Our guide and bus driver persisted and it paid off! We actually caught a brief but amazing peek of the lights! To our delight the lights appeared again during our drop-off in the city. I’d definitely recommend this tour! Many thanks to our guide and driver! :)

Great tour to start off our Iceland adventure

The operator of this tour, Gray Lines, is very good. Drivers/guides are knowledgeable. They pick you up and drop you off from your hotel (or nearest possible location to your hotel). For this tour, we were in a small mini-bus. On the drive out, our driver regaled us with various information and history points about Iceland and the places we were driving by. On a slightly sour note (but also being quite straight-forward), he told us that since the weather was bad/ it was cloudy, that we were probably not going to see the Northern Lights. The Secret Lagoon was amazing. It's similar to a little back-yard pool, but heated by geothermic springs. The buffet dinner was in a restaurant 2min away from Secret Lagoon. Amazing. As predicted, no Northern Lights, and this tour doesn’t provide complimentary reschedule to go see them.

Great experience with very minor hiccups

Overall we enjoyed the tour. Our guide, Ross, was amazing, friendly, informative and a very conscientious and safe driver. The activities were enjoyable and was a good fit for all members of our group (with ages ranging from 30 to 65). The ice cave was slightly flooded so we could only explore a small part of it. We did enjoy the ride over with our ice cave driver and guide Ragnor! We had an issue with booking the ticket due to technical issues with the site. They did offer us a discount but we could not use it for the tour that we had already booked. We were quite disappointed that they put our group (6 people) into two bedrooms only when the description said that the rooms would be doubles. It was fine but we would have appreciated being consulted first or atleast informed.

Exciting, fascinating, beautiful and amazing!

Our tour operator, Tiddy, was incredible. He narrated the trip with so much interesting and entertaining information. I learned so much! We were foiled by weather in the Jokulsarlon area our planned second day, so he rearranged our schedule, found us another ice cave to visit (and we even got to climb a glacier!) And brought us to all sorts of bonus places to see along the way. He was a complete professional and a very calm, friendly, funny person. ...The itinerary for the trip is just breathtaking and stunning. The black sand beach of Reynisfjara is one of the most astonishingly beautiful I've ever seen in my entire life. Also the tiny village of Hof where we spent the night is charming and at the foot of this striking mountain. ....GO ON THIS TOUR! So good.
