What people are saying about Southern District
We stayed at Kowloon east so we had to make our way to central Kowloon in order to take the trip. Keep this in mind as the Hong Kong traffic is always busy, the metro is a great way to get around. Vincent our guide was superb, he had great knowledge about the areas we visited and really made the tour very personal. He also left us map and gave us some tips about other places to visit and the best wys to do them. You will stop at a jewellery shop which has some nice items. We didnt plan on buying any from the outset, so stick to your guns as the sales people can be pursuasive, but never pushy. The boat trip at Aberdeen is worth doing and really doesnt cost too much. All in all a great few hours out.
Really liked the tour. We were the only people on it so we had the guide to ourselves which was fantastic. Repulse bay we saw the temple and dipped our toes in the sea. Aberdeen fishing village we took the boat tour round and this allowed us to see another side of the city. The lookout point over towards kowloon was fantastic. Great photo oppurtunities. The only bit i didnt like was the jewellery bit at the end as the woman tried to force the jewellery on us. I could have missed this happily. Our guide gave us lots of facts about living in hong kong.
it was reasonabley priced and It cover really good features, like the tram ride, visit to marina, beaches etc. Plus we drove around different buildings and areas. Great shopping at Stanley market. Just be ready to pay extra for the terrace and boat ride. Plus there was at least one hour wasted in a jewelry store, where people pushed costumers expensive items.
I liked the variety and the guide was entertaining and informative. However, the optional sampan tour was not very interesting. If one chose not to buy the tour, I saw nothing around to do. It's not so much a visit to Aberdeen, as a visit to an extra price boat ride.
Michael was a great guide - very knowledgeable and professional. He adjusted our little tour (only 2 of us) as we'd already visited one attraction). It was a really lovely half day - a perfect end to a great trip.
