Full description
Start your tour from Sorrento with transfer by semiprivate minibus to Pompeii. Upon your arrival, enjoy a 2-hour visit to the Pompeii excavation site together with your official guide. Due to its burial under a layer of ashes and lapilli, the town was forgotten for hundreds of years until its excavations in the 18th-century.

After this visit, have free time for lunch. In the early afternoon, the visit will continue to Mount Vesuvius. The bus ride will take you 1000 meters high. From this point, continue with a 30 minutes walk. Once on the rim, meet an Alpine guide that will give you information about the history of the crater.

Have some more free time to enjoy the breathtaking view from the top of Vesuvius. Return to Sorrento in the afternoon.

Excellent tour - Ugo our guide brought Pompeii to life

Excellent tour. Our guide Ugo was FULL of information. He really brought Pompeii to life, pointing out things that I would not have seen only for him. He took it at a nice pace as it was really hot. He was very aware of the group requirements and kept us out of the direct sun where possible. Couldn't fault it.

This tour is excellent! We were guided through the ruins of the city of Pompeii for around 2hrs by our guide Valeria. This was enough time to take great pictures and learn about the city and it's people. Lunch was conveniently close and well priced. You are definetily in for a workout in the Vesuvius Volcano, for which we were given 1.5 hours to climb up to the crater and come back down.

We really enjoyed our day trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius. The pick up from the hotel was prompt and the drive to the sites was pleasant in the air conditioned minibus. Both trips were very informative and the guide was really friendly and engaging. At lunch we were taken to a restaurant down the road from Pompeii which was €14 for a salad, pizza or pasta, icecream and a glass of prosecco, a bottle of wine and a bottle of water, which was really good value for money. The only thing I will mention, when going through the entrance to Pompeii make sure you stick with the group and don't let anyone who is not in your group in as it messes with the ticketing system. As someone snuck in with our group and then one member couldn't come through as there space was taken. It was sorted in the end but was inconvenient. The walk up mount Vesuvius is steeper than I expected. Trainers are a must! Really great view from the top once you get there. Definately experiences you wouldn't want to miss!
