Planning Your Sorrento Visit

What to eat in Sorrento?

Sample a limoncello or a drink that favors the citrus flavor of a Sorrento lemon. The region has some succulent lemon trees. We also recommend trying the local olive oil while you're sightseeing in Sorrento.

How to get around Sorrento?

Sorrento on foot is very scenic but if your feet hurt hop onto a city bus or train. You can also hire a taxi. To take a day trip, we recommend the trains and buses, though renting a car could be a fun way to see more of the landscape.

Full day boat trip to Capri from Sorrento

We got picked up from our hotel promptly on the day (got a confirmation e-mail the day before) and driven to Marina Grande, where we got checked in and boarded our boat - 18 footer. It was 12 of us altogether. Our skipper Marino was great and provided commentary throughout the trip which started with a visit to Grotta Azura where we had to wait for a bout 30-40 minutes because of congestion, but it was an amazing experience once we got inside the cave. Then we got to Capri for 3.5 of sightseeing (company can arrange transport for those who wish). In the afternoon we completed our tour around the island and saw the ret of the grottoes, swam in the crystal waters, and enjoyed complimentary drinks (soft+beer), snacks, champagne and limoncello, before returning to Sorrento. They also provide towels and packed lunch (tomato and mozzarella ciabatta). A most enjoyable trip.

Fabulous scenic relaxed tour of Amalfi coast with experienced guide...

Louisa and the driver were fantastic throughout thoroughly enjoyed this small group tour highly recommend it. Amalfi coast is stunning we took up the optional boat excursion at Amalfi which was fantastic scenery is beautiful. We had lunch in Amalfi restaurant recommended by Louisa which was stunning. Positano is beautiful but don’t buy there unless you want to take out a second mortgage. Recommend limoncello very nice liquor and the tour company were well organised and very accommodating.

Enjoyable way to experience Amalfi Coast

A well organised tour, everything went to plan. We set off from the station in Sorrento. Initially it looked chaotic as there were so many of us but then four large mini buses arrived and each had names registered for them. Definitely worth taking the optional boat trip (12 euros) at Amalfi. The visits to Positano and Amalfi were about right for one day although perhaps would have liked a bit more time in Amalfi. All in all about right for the money. We did not regret it.
