What people are saying about Sintra

Great small group tour, safe driving, informative and stress-free

Two of us went on this tour and found it excellent - there were only 7 in our party, and would only have been room for one more. We liked that our guide chatted en route about places we passed and Portuguese history & culture, and then at stops pointed out things we might like to do but left us free to pursue them ourselves. It meant we had an informative day, with all the transport taken care of, but didn’t feel like we were being herded around looking at things we weren’t so interested in. For instance, we particularly enjoyed visiting the Quinta da Regaleira gardens which we wouldn’t have thought about doing without our guide, whereas others on the tour spent more time in Sintra town. Our main reason for joining the tour was to see Pena Palace and here our guide came in with us to explain the history and then gave us enough time to look around the inside and the exterior walls as we chose. Timings were approx 1 hr in Cascais; 30min Cabo da Roca; 2hrs Sintra; 1hr30min at Pena Palace

Brilliant day out with lovely John as our guide and driver

Brilliant day out with lovely Joao (John) as our guide and driver. We were collected from our hotel which was very convenient - no trekking to a communal pick-up point as sometimes happens. It was a small group, only 7 of us so we were in a mini-bus, which was great. John was very friendly and knowledgeable and made the trip very interesting and enjoyable. We visited Cascais with time to walk around and sample the coffee and cakes from one of the local patisseries - delicious. Then a lovely drive on to Cabo da Roca to see the most westerly point of mainland Europe, before continuing to Sintra for a lunch stop, and then on to the Pena palace with its amazing views of the surrounding countryside and time to visit inside. We were then driven back into Lisbon and dropped back at our hotel - a thoroughly enjoyable day! Can definitely recommend this trip.

This is a MUST for anyone who visits Lisbon

All was beautiful. British poet Lord Byron called Sintra the most beautiful place on earth. I cannot disagree. The tour should omit Cabo da Roca which is nothing more than a beach with cliffs. The extra time should be spent in Sintra. Guide was one of the best ever. He was helpful and educational. You need to assign him as many tours as he can tolerate.

Great experience, highly recommend this trip

We were a group of 6 people, everyone from a different nation. Our guide Antonio did a fantastic job. Driving and showing us around safely, explaining anything we needed to know and more. He was very kind and also up for some jokes. Even though there was a certain timetable to follow, there was never any feeling of rush coming up. Everyone left with smiley faces and a ton of nice pictures :) really glad I chose this tour.

Pedro is one of the best guides I’ve ever met.

Pedro was totally professional; good driver, very intelligent, knowledgeable and friendly.
