What people are saying about Sicily

To truly know the Godfather Movies is to know Alessio our tour guide!

I slotted Sicily in on our vacation from mainland Italy just so my husband who is a die-hard fan of the Godfather movies could spend Father's Day in one of the best places ever. Of course, this perfect trip for my husband wouldn't have been possible without Alessio, the most informative and interesting guide I think that we have ever had! We were picked up from our B&B on time in a very nice Mercedes van that fit our crew of seven most comfortably. We had two friends of our children with us who had never seen any of the Godfather movies and Alessio even had them interested and anticipating watching the movies when they returned home. Alessio never rushed us at any of the locations which was most appreciated, instead it felt like we were out with an old friend for the day. He was very attentive to our needs and definitely well liked by everyone that we met or ran into with him. This tour was seven of the best hours that we spent on our vacation and we will be back to see Alessio again!

Great but communication could have been better!

I absolutely loved the trip to Etna and Taormina. Despite half of our group opting for an English-spoken guide, our driver only spoke Italian. This wasn't a problem- as a group, we managed to get by. My one criticism would be regarding the pick up time. I had to chase for confirmation of a pick up time from the host the night before and eventually was told this would be 7am. However, when I left my apartment at 7am on the day, the driver waiting outside seemed angry- saying that I'd been keeping him waiting for a whole twenty minutes prior to this. Aside from that, we had sufficient time in both areas. 2 hours in Etna, which was just enough to get the cable car to the top and return. Then we had another 2.5 hours in Taormina. I had researched a lot in trying to find the most cost effective trip to Etna from Palermo, and this was by far the best option!

A brilliant day, loaded with great insight.

We learned more about Syracuse, Notto, Catania, Sicily, the Greeks, Romans, Carthaginians, Normans, Phoenicians and Sicilians in one day with our guide Alessio, than in all our pre-trip research. A great story teller, Alessio mapped out the settlements, battles, power struggles and mythologies behind the sites we visited. A day later, when we struggled to find a cab to the airport, he even combed his network to help us out. We hope Alessio is still telling Sicily’s story when we next visit. Mille grazie!

Sicilian Cooking Class and Market Tour with Chef Massimo

What a wonderful day my husband and I had with Massimo. Great fun, great food and great location. We learnt so much both at the market shopping and in the kitchen and Massimo was an excellent teacher. We enjoyed the "hands on approach" and were delighted with the 6 different dishes we cooked. The view from the kitchen/restaurant was amazing, the food delicious and the wine was good too. Thanks Chef Massimo - we would highly recommend your class to anyone who wants a truly Sicilian experience.

Amazing view and a must do experience! Make sure you’re fit!

Great tour with Danielle - he was very informative! The walk was altered as the highest crater was active the day before so we reached 2,920M only. It was a very tough trek with lots of slopes, volcanic rocks and sand. Make sure you wear the correct hiking shoes!
