Full description
This exciting tour takes you on a discovery of Iceland’s beautiful scenery as you enjoy a 1-hour snowmobile ride on the Langjökull glacier. This adventure is a scenic and fun tour on the glacier, easily accessible from Reykjavik.

You will be picked up from Cafe Gullfoss and taken on the fast route to the Langjökull glacier. Arriving at the mobile glacier base camp you will gear up in warm glacier overalls, gloves, and helmets. The specially trained glacier guides will then show you how to safely operate the snowmobiles on the glacier before going for an amazing 1-hour tour on the glacier.

Langjökull is Iceland’s second biggest glacier. It contains several enormous ice filled volcanic craters, rimmed in by imposing volcanoes and set in the breathtaking Icelandic interior. The views from the flanks of Langjökull are quite staggering and you will see the steep Eiríksjökull glacier, the highest mountain in west Iceland, the dome shaped Hofsjökull glacier in middle of the highlands along with the Kerlingafjöll Mountain range.

worth it

Very professional tour guide, telling stories with dramatic voices all the way, a group of about 30 people, walking in the endless ice field for an hour, the full equipment provided by the travel company, not cold at all, halfway in an ice cave I took a break here to take pictures and went back to the travel company to prepare hot drinks for snacks.

I’ve never been on a snowmobile before but it was an awesome experience. Both our driver and our guides were the best. Riding across a glacier was pretty cool. It was an experience I’ll remember for a long time. They provided everything you need. They provided refreshments too. Loved every minute of it.

This trip was an amazing experience! The final ride to and from the glacier over the basalt boulders where the ice has retreated (yes global warming is happening at an unprecedented rate) was bumpy but the snowmobile ride was incredible. The glacier and adjacent mountains were both stunning and very imposing. And watching a storm brewing then pelting is with ice was exciting and fitting—and we were protected by their arctic suits and gear. The guides were very patient, caring, and informative. Thank you!
