What people are saying about Secret Lagoon
This was a beautiful trip. Fabulous sights and an incredibly entertaining and well-informed guide/driver. Only problem I personally had was a lack of gluten-free food for purchase. When I tried to eat some g-f bread and cheese I brought with me in a cafeteria on the trip (the only food stop), the manager tried to throw me out (it was 40 degrees out) because I didn't buy it there. Few in Iceland know much about celiac disease. When I explained, the mgr told me I could buy their soup!! (I'd checked; - thickened w flour! They sold yogurt parfait topped w granola - I was unwilling to roll the dice on it). He finally told me they would "make an exception" after I explained that eating their food would put me in a hospital. Not the tour's fault - but if you're celiac, you need to plan to bring your own food, expect a hassle, or go 8 hours on a bag of potato chips and an apple.
The secret lagoon was just amazing. Iceland on the whole was a disappointment. Poor quality food- every where you go. The whale safari and northern light tour were utter disappointment. We did not see anything. All the other people we spoke to saw nothing. These are just hyped up propaganda to rip off tourists. Most of the activities involving glaciers, snow caves etc are too far away. A whole day’s trip for only an hour of snow mobiling is just not worth it and that for £300 per person? Spend your money somewhere else other than Iceland- it is not worth going to this desolate island.
I enjoyed our New Years Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon Trip with Sterna travel. The guide Marie was knowledgeable, kind, considerate and helpful. The driver “Gummy Bear” was a safe pair of hands and a jolly chap and He was excellent on icy roads and made us all feel safe and secure. My daughter loved meeting the Icelandic ponies, I believe a little extra Maria squeezed in and bathing in the warm waters of the Secret Lagoon. Even though very cold outside. Thank you both for making our experience one to remember.
Our guide and driver were a perfect team. Blessed with exceptional weather and coinciding with the annual gathering of the sheep our guide was exceptionally professional and a wonderful ambassador for Iceland. Iceland is in complete harmony with its ecology because it has to be - the rest of the world has a lot to learn,
Our guide and driver ‘Gummy Bear’ made the trip. He was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining and imparted lots of information. The stops at the waterfall, geysers and the secret lagoon were brilliant. I would highly rate this excursion to anyone.
