What people are saying about Second Infiltration Tunnel
My husband - a retired USAF pilot - and I went on the half day DMZ tour on Tuesday, 14 May 2019. We are SO glad we signed up for the tour!! To start the day, Jinny Kim and the tour bus - a very new, comfortable vehicle - arrived at our hotel. We picked up other tourists at other hotels, then headed for the DMZ. What impressed us, overall, was how well-organized the tour was. Jinny, with her personal microphone and loudspeaker, kept us well-informed about the time constraints - ‘We’ll next go to “Place X.” We will be there for “X minutes.” Departure time will be at “X” minutes past the hour.’ - while providing lots of historical and current facts about the particular sites we visited. We found the pacing of our tour was just right - not rushed at all, but also not one of those tours where we sit around wondering when in the world the bus will move on to the next spot. FIVE STARS for the tour! (And 6 STARS, if I could give 6, for Jinny Kim!! She was wonderful!!) Overall - a great time!!
From the meet-up time to the drop-off time, the tour was very tightly organized. The tour guide gave us most of the information on the bus rides to each location, sometimes supplementing with additional details once we were there, but we were allowed to look around by ourselves for around 25 min at the Dora Observatory, Freedom Bridge, and Dorasan Station and around 1 hr at the Third Tunnel. The time definitely felt a little short, but every tour got the same amount of time, so it wasn't really up to our tour guide's control. Overall the tour was informative and covered a lot of locations for just half a day, but I do wish we got a little more in-depth explanations at each of the locations.
Pickup is prompt because there are many other tour busses travelling to the same destinations. You receive a lot of information about the history of the DMZ and are freely able to move around each location. Gabbi our tour guide was so knowledgeable and helpful when explaining the history and what was required of us. Note that pick-up needs to be on a main road or near a major station. If I could ask for anything more, it would be to receive a document outlining everything you are going to see with a brief history so you can retain the knowledge a little better or alternatively just read up on it before the trip.
The start was a bit early (didn't have time to have breakfast) since they came to collect us at the hotel. The coach journey is very comfortable and not very long. The time allowed at each venue was slightly short (please allow extra 10minutes at each venue). The drop off was at 1:30pm at the City Hall ( even 2pm would have been ok ). Overall we enjoyed the tour.
The tour guide was phenomenal. She provided information that was both historic and anecdotal, while remaining in good humour. The departure and arrival times for all stops were punctual. I would definitely recommend the half day. We saw everything at a good pace and felt as though we certainly experienced the main sites.
