  • Swim in the clear waters of Aegean Sea
  • Watch the sun set over the village of Oia
Full description
Arrive at the Athinios Port in Santorini and step aboard the traditional boat, King Thiras, named after the surrounding region of Thira. Sit back and relax as your cruise begins an 8-hour journey through the Aegean Sea. Your trip starts as you set sail toward the island of Nea Kameni, which is uninhabited and home to an active volcano. Climb the ascending soil path to the 130-meter-high crater and walk around the entirety of the rim. Next, head over to the neighboring island of Palea Kameni where you can swim in the green sulfur waters or bathe in the warm therapeutic mud. Continue on to Thirassia for more swimming or to enjoy a meal at one of the traditional seafront tavernas. The final stop of the tour is the village of Oia, where you can sit peacefully and watch the sun slip into the sea. The sunset seen at this location is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in the world.

Tour company put us on wrong trip

Bus was late collecting us - called contact and told it was on it's way and we were on. Instead of going to port we were taken to an archaeological site, we asked the guide who contacted her office - yes they had made a mistake but no option was offered - the guide suggested that we remain on the trip and told us the office would re- arrange for another day. At the end of the day we visited the tour operators office and were connected by phone to a rather aggressive lady, who eventually agreed to re book. BUT they did not. We contacted GetYourGuide who were brilliant and accepting that the tour company were not going to honor their promise re booked us at their expense.

Not a sunset cruise!

Coach pickup - old coach with collapsing seats Traditional sail boat (no sails) but very well kept. Basic information given on good PA Volcano - I had anticipated that I would not make it to the top, I managed over half way, but it was almost impossible to hear the guide, so all the information we wanted was lost. Crew very helpful getting on and off. Lunch stop good with a good selection of places to eat. BUT THIS WAS NOT A SUNSET CRUISE, we were drooped off at Oia mid afternoon - sunset was just before 7pm and left to our own devices, no map and very little information how to find our coach to get back to the hotel. But the big problem was getting from the port up numerous steep steps to Oia. There were Donkeys but they were a considerable way up and the drop off was just before a particularly steep flight of steps. I am have to use sticks and found it almost impossible. I was not alone many people half my age experienced difficulties. A strong warning should have been given.

The timing was perfect, we arrived to the destinations before other groups, so it wasn`t busy. The whole day was excellent. The tour guide was professional and great.
