What people are saying about Sanam Luang
This was a great experience. The guide was good. We went all around the little back streets of Bangkok, across the river, dodged traffic (all in the light rain) and it was fun. See the city at night like this was an experience. It is certainly not for the faint hearted (dodging the traffic) and you need to be confident on a bicycle, because there is no waiting around for anyone - or maybe the guide knew we were all capable riders. Dinner was also great. The only downside is, if you are staying in city it is a little out of the way to get to, but if you are staying on the river it would be a lot easier. You must meet them at the Sheraton on the River, they don't come and collect you from your hotel (or the MRT/BTS).
Loved seeing the urban thread, via the back side streets. As crazy as the traffic moving through the busy streets of Bangkok are, we felt safe with our guide Jimmy. We visited the same temples that day and it was cool to go back again at night. It was so different and nice to also get some history from our guide. It was a perfect length tour and we felt really spoiled by Jimmys service. We got to try some local food when we visited the flower market and didn't have to pull out our own bhat.
Highly recommend, especially if you like to ride bikes. It was an easy ride through the coolest parts of the city. Saw temples after dark, rode through the University, ate delicious food, it was really awesome. Had to keep a mental note of places to go back to that I rode past!
Our guide, Woody, was so lovely and knowledgeable, he made this excursion amazing. The locals all knew him and loved him - that says volumes. The places we went were interesting and Woody shared lots of Thai history. A bike is the best way to see a city.
We were apprehensive not having ridden a bike in 25+ years but was no problem. Lots of stops, lots of fun and a side of the city we would not hav otherwise experienced. Loved it, thoroughly recommended.
