Full description
Be swept away by beautiful Basque Country on this hiking tour in San Sebastián  (also known as Donostia) that leads you to epic views and uncovers local hidden gems in this beautiful part of Spain. To kick off this San Sebastian tour, head out of town and up to Ulia Mountain, where we’ll enjoy a wonderful view before hiking along the coastal St. James Way. (Please be prepared for a steep beginning — but it will get easier as you go! There are several ups and downs along the route, but the hardest part is at the start). As you continue your Basque adventure, your local guide will highlight points of interest and give you all the insider knowledge you need to know, knowledge that only a local would know!

Make your way to the lighthouse of La Plata, from where you’ll head down the hill to Pasaia San Pedro. Here you’ll discover some unique cultural traditions and customs before embarking on a boat across the sea inlet. Breathe in the fresh air as your local guide tells you about the phenomenal scenery.

Enjoy more wicked views of the mountains and coast before coming to rest on the terrace of a bar in the beautiful port-side Santiago Square. After taking a moment here to soak up your surroundings and indulge in txakoli (regional white wine), we’ll wander the narrow streets of Pasaia, before returning to San Sebastian by public transport. Your Basque tour ends here, but your local guide will be happy to give you some more tips so that you can continue to explore local life, or let you know the best route back to your accommodation.

The Hiking the St.James Way around San Sebastián with Angel Olivares was a great experience for me! I was given plenty of an interesting information, the hiking the path itself went smoothly and i felt so peaceful to connect to this beautiful landscape, Angel was guiding me through. I liked a lot his easy-going and relaxed way of guiding! Time flies when you enjoy your tour and Angel did his job very professional! Thank you Angel for being your unique self! I will definitely come back! ☀️

Fantastic local Basque experience which we would highly recommend.

Our knowledgable guide Ainhoa met us at agreed meeting point and led us on a truely wonderful experience walking the St James way to Pasio. Along the route we stopped several times to enjoy the macnificant views and so she could provide us with interesting history of this wonderful walk and the Basque countryside. It was a real pleasure to learn about the Basque culture, food and language from this young passionate guide. When we arrived in Pasio we sat in a local cafe with Ainhoa who ordered us a glass of the local wine as well as a selection of delicious Pintxos before getting the bus back to San Sebastián. Ainhoa was a wealth of knowledge who gave us information on the Old Town and the night life in San Sebastián. Thank you for ensuring we enjoyed the best of San Sebastián. Highly recommend tour and especially the host.

Great way to see all the sights in a short time

Our guide was lovely and adaptable to what we wanted to see. There was a little confusion over the meeting point but tour staff were apologetic and rectified the issue quickly. I recommend it!
