Full description
Explore the history of Salvador, one of the birthplaces of Brazilian culture, on this walking tour. Brazil´s first capital city has over 500 years of history, which is well-preserved in its charming and colorful old town district.

The streets of Central Salvador take tourists back to the very beginnings of Brazil. Your tour begins at the Barra Lighthouse, then follows a trail of centuries-old churches and buildings, many of them converted into museums for you to explore.

Visit São Diogo Fort, from where you have an incredible view of All Saints Bay (stop for 10 minutes approximately). You'll pass the Corridor of Vitória, Largo do Campo Grande (one of the circuits of the carnival), and 7 de Setembro Avenue. From there, continue our tour to the Pelourinho (Historic Center of Salvador), stopping at Municipal Square. Stop at Sé Square, a place that keeps ruins of the first Basilica of Brazil located next to Salvador's first Archbishop's Palace. Continue on towards Largo do Pelourinho, where there are the Rosário dos Pretos Church and the Jorge Amado House Foundation. Head to the São Francisco Church and Convent, which is considered one of the most unique and rich expressions of Brazilian Baroque

Salvador's collection of over a thousands homes, churches and monuments - built since the 16th century - represents one of the most stunning displays of Baroque architectural heritage in Latin America. This tour is your opportunity to see the historical side of Brazil while sampling the culture as well.
