Hobart: Sunset Dinner Cruise
- Duration: 2 hours
We were so looking forward to the Port Arthur tour, however by the time we got there it was pouring with rain. We couldn’t hear what the tour guide was saying over the rain beating down on our umbrellas and by the time she finished speaking it only left us with about 30 mins to explore the site (which takes much longer than that), before we got on the ferry however you couldn’t see anything out of the windows due to the rain. It was disappointing but we will definitely be back to finish off what we didn’t get to see. Our tour guide Nigel was such a lovely man, he had quite a lot of knowledge about the area and took us to some nice little places on the way back.
Because we booked to do this tour we discovered after we booked it that on Saturdays this tour allocates 2 hours at the Salamanca Market. For us this was very frustrating as we were not interested in going to a market and it meant far less time at Port Arthur so we were very rushed there and did not have enough time to see everything at that site. So unfortunately the tour did not fully meet our expectations. But the bus driver was great so that was a bonus.
My husband and I and our two kids 7 & 10 really loved this tour. The guide was informative and funny. The boat over to the islands was really good and the tour guide on the boat was terrific also. We would defiantly recommend it to everyone as there is something for everyone no matter what age to learn from port Arthur.
The tour was run very well by Phil with interesting commentary provided. Really not enough time to see everything though. Shame about that. Didn’t feel the stops on way there and back were worth it as they took away from time at the historical site. No time for lunch or to go to the souvenir shop.
We were not told that the Salamanca Markets were at your own time, would have liked to have known that as we were staying near there, we waited at the meeting point for the 9:00 time we were given then was told to just do your own thing and meet back there at 11:00 for the trip to Port Arthur
