We had a fantastic tour with Conny on 16th May. Despite being a public holiday we managed to cover 220 kilometres and really see the best of Provence. We saw beautiful villages and had enough time to have a good impression of each - we liked being told the information on the way into the villages, dropped off, shown where to go and then having the freedom to wander ourselves before meeting up again. Impressive views and time to take scenic photographs. Loved going to St Remy de Provence and then Pont du Gard at the end of the day. We would recommend this if you are short of time (ie don't have many days in the area) or if you want a taster to know where to return to. Sadly we were too early for the lavender fields but we saw plenty without that. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made it interesting.
On a hot 36 deg C day we toured provence in airconditioned minivan. The locations were unique and have good vistas of the countryside. Our guide was restricted to his vehicle due to drop off arrangements so we received suggestions on places to visit and we explored the locations from there. Would have been nice to tweak the times in the different locations due to heat. Two locations have streams/rivers and would have been nice to have more time there and less in the hotter locations. Pont du Gare was probably my favourite - impressive architecture, river, nice breezes, and museum which I only had time to race through.
Our tour guide, Jean Baptiste (JB), was informative and very knowledgeable of the whole area of Provence. He took us to eight or nine different stops throughout the whole day. My wife and I loved the "all day" tour because we came to France to see a lot of the countryside and Provence......not just one or two towns. JB drove us from city to city while explaining facts of the area along the way. Then we would have time to get out and walk around at each city. This tour is the best for your money.
Thanks to the guidance of Emmanuel we all had an interesting day. It was great to get so much additional information about the surrounding landscape and history of the region. This is why we do small group guided tours, to actually get into the area, not just pass by. The flexability to do a specially, personally selected visit to Carrieres de Luminaires was very much appreciated and we were blown away. Thankyou, John.
David did a great job of providing interesting commentary about the history of the various areas we saw during the day. It was an aggressive schedule, but necessary to cover the diverse areas we saw. We could have spent much more time at each site but as a highlights/overview tour we were able to spend just enough to appreciate the special nature of each site.
