Full description
See the final resting place of the notorious Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau as well as many other colorful New Orleans natives. A local historian and master storyteller will tell you about the unique burial customs of the most haunted cemetery in Louisiana.

Founded in 1789 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, St. Louis No. 1 Cemetery is the oldest active City of the Dead in New Orleans. Ornate, crumbling and entrancing, St. Louis No. 1 is as eerily beautiful in the day as in the night.

The public is not allowed access to the cemetery unless accompanied by an Archdiocese-approved guide. The tour covers a distance of about 1 mile, and has a duration of around 2 hours.

I took the tour on Saturday 11:00-1:00 The tour guide was Robert (Bobby). He was extremely knowledgeable and funny. He told stories about the coffins ⚰️ floating up & bodies becoming projectiles. The story about Marie Laveau was excellent. He told us the history of the cemetery & tomb monuments. It was a fabulous learning experience.

one off my bucketlist!!!

Had been wanting to do one of these for awhile- and my 6th visit to NOLA was the time!!! Mary J was our guide and she was excellent! FULL of knowledge and tons of fun! If the sun is out during your tour, I suggest sunscreen and/or a big hat/umbrella! Worth it!

Justin is a great guide!

Justin was knowledgeable about the city's history and the tour sites, as well as witty and courteous. He moved us into the shade whenever possible and gave us 50 SPF sunscreen to combat the brutal sun in the cemetery. Best of all, his stories were both funny and appropriately respectful of the setting -- and always engaging.
