A remarkable insight into life aboard this iconic ship where Royalty and the ship's company co-existed to enjoy life at sea. A first rate attraction with excellent audio guidance that enables visitors to view the ship in a very relaxed way. Linger and ponder what it must have been like for the Royal Family, Ambassadors, Presidents, and international dignitaries to be entertained aboard in such homely and unpretentious surroundings. There is nothing ostentatious about it. That can certainly be said about the rather basic crew quarters! The guides on board were friendly and well informed particularly the long chat with Tim O'Brien who it turns out has written a book about Britannia was very engaging. A glass of champagne and lunch in the Tea Room on the top deck is a must to finish off there visit.
The whole Britannia Team was welcoming and helpful, taking photos of us on board when asked! The exhibition as we waited was very interesting and took me back over my history of the Royal Family. It was obvious what a homely yacht this was, having family photos in the rooms on board yet the state rooms were really grand. It was interesting seeing how the crew lived and what a whole community this was/is. A thoroughly enjoyable visit in a beautiful setting.
Apart from a little hitch finding the entrance, escalator not working and no extra signage, the whole experience was excellent. The routing of visitors works really well and the access to the various sections within the ship works well giving, it a very inclusive feel. The various photos and artefacts add immensely to the overall impression of a family home, how sad the Queen and her family were denied the use of it in her later years.
Marred by a very loud American girl who felt it was OK to bawl out someone who had moved in front of her in the line. It should be made clear at the beginning that you do not have to move round with the line of people you entered with, and that everyone is entitled to move ahead should they so wish. Would check the less busy times for a more relaxed walk round
We had the best time went to the 3 attractions first then traveled all 3 buses for the full route have to say the the tour guides on the green bus were fantastic. We had plenty of time to enjoy other sites as well Would definitely recommend that you purchase this pass
