Full description
The tour begins with pickup from your Rotorua accommodation and heads out for a day of exploring the incredible surrounding landscapes. The first stop of the day is Te Puia, home to an array of steaming geysers and bubbling mud holes. Follow your expert guide around this fascinating geothermal landscape, where history, culture, and nature collide. Walk through the Te Puia Valley and watch as pools of water boil and geysers erupt high into the air. Then observe the legendary Pohutu Geyser, which is the largest geyser in the Southern Hemisphere and can erupt to a height of 30 meters as often as 20 times per day.

Next, enjoy a rare opportunity to see and learn about the national icon of New Zealand, the kiwi bird. Then, take your seats for a spine-tingling show that is not to be missed. Watch as local Maori people share traditional stories, songs, and dance, as well as incredible performance of the Haka war dance.

After Te Puia, head to Redwood Forest for a walk under the majestic trees that stand at approximately 67 meters tall. The upper canopy of exotic tree species provides shelter and shade to a kaleidoscope of ferns, shrubs, flowers and fungi, including the silver fern one of New Zealand’s national emblems. Arrive at a stunning lake front to admire black swans and resident geese, then take a stroll through the Government Gardens' beautifully colorful flower beds and fragrant rose garden.

On the return journey to Rotorua, make one final stop at Kairua Park for a walk amongst the steaming, hissing, and bubbling landscape, and to learn more about the region's incredible geothermal activity.
