Full description
Escape the crowds of the Colosseum and Vatican, and explore the darker side of Rome on a 3-hour and 15-minute small group tour of the ancient catacombs and crypts. Venture to parts of the city that few visitors ever see, traveling between sites by air-conditioned minibus.

First, follow your guide to 3 memorable sites, each revealing the extraordinary secrets of Ancient Rome. They include the labyrinthine Roman Catacombs that were part burial ground and part refuge for the persecuted early Christians of Ancient Rome.

Then, visit the Capuchin Crypt, known locally as the “Bone Chapel,” and marvel at the walls, decorated with the bones more than 4,000 monks. Before the final stop for the day, drive along the Appian Way and hop out to enjoy a short walk to see the Tomb of Cecilia Metella. Along Via Appia, your expert guide will explain the historical significance of the fascinating area.

To finish out the day in style, visit perhaps one of the most spectacular sites in all of Rome - the Roman Aqueducts. Enjoy time to explore and understand this monumental landmark from a stunning vantage point.

My first visit abroad-and so,so 'worth it'!

This was an amazing tour and just what I had hoped for. I have pain/difficulty walking and stair-climbing but managed - worthwhile! Our Guide, Leonardo, was super, a lovely chap and so enthusiastic and helpful (he could also tell us on the mini-bus about the food of Italy. As this was my very first visit (and would now be encouraged to return!) it was a lovely wee respite from the ancient Catacombs. For myself, the two small bus journeys across the busy streets between venues was a pleasant little 'break'. In all - GREAT. And thanks to all, Heather.

Catacombs with a plus!

The Catacombs tour was terrific but what really made it an experience was our guide, Julia. Her knowledge of the subject was outstanding and her presentation was great. She was able to present with delicate subjects with great care and empathy but was also able to ad a touch of humour that made the trip really memorable. I would definitely participate in any other tours she was leading.

Our tour guide was an English lady called Rian (my apologies for misspelling). She was friendly, easy to listen to and passionate about her history. She kept you enthralled throughout the trip. I really enjoyed the whole trip, it was well worth it and was fascinating and somewhat intimidating to be standing where others had been buried centuries ago.
