Top 5 things to see on your Rome bike tour

Not only is cycling Rome's antique streets and hills a great way to keep fit, it also grants you access to views and landmarks that bus tours simply can't reach inside this densely-packed city!

Pantheon

Pantheon

See this magnificent former pagan temple from the Piazza della Rotonda. Its importance as a Catholic church since 609 AD means it's perhaps Rome's best-preserved ancient building.

Trevi Fountain

Trevi Fountain

Dating back to 1762, the Baroque Trevi fountain is one of the most famous in the world. Tossing coins into it is a popular custom, and raises a daily €3,000 to help feed Rome's poor!

Appian Way

Appian Way

Sunny day? There's no better way of spending it than cycling out of Rome to explore ancient aqueducts and the Circus of Maxentius along this historically significant road.

Campo de' Fiori

The "Field of Flowers" is, in fact, one of Rome's favorite market squares. Even if you arrive too late for the daily market, it brims with life well into the night.

Trastevere

Trastevere

A multicultural heritage has formed a unique way of life in Trastevere, beloved by tourists and locals alike. You won't get a tour bus down its narrow maze of lively alleys!

Planning Your Visit

How hard is it?

Rome is renowned for its hills and, with so much to see, the city's bicycle tours average about three or four hours. If you're unsure, choose an itinerary that avoids scaling hills wherever possible, or contact your tour provider for more information.

How safe is it?

The threat posed by Rome's infamously dense traffic is balanced out somewhat by how slow-moving it is, and the city has seen a huge upsurge in the number of cyclists taking to its streets since the recession. It's safer than you might think, but the transition into a truly bike-friendly city is still underway. Don't think you can get away without a helmet and hi-vis vest!

Awesome bike ride in Rome and the surrounding countryside

This is a great bike ride with electric bikes through parts of Rome and the countryside. We loved seeing and riding along the Aqueducts. The electric bike s made the ride much easier but it is still a good workout pedaling.

Amazing different perspective on bike tour

The Rome city bike tour was awesome. Our tour guide Lillian was more than we could ask for. She was very knowledgeable, kind and considerate. She showed us many points of interest that we would not have otherwise seen by car or bus. The E-bike option was a great idea and could be utilized on those uphill climbs. Absolutely adored this tour. I would recommend to all.

Brilliant way to see the sights of Rome.

Top bike rentals where the company we went with, their location was easy to find. Went with my Hubby & 11 year old Son, we were all given E-bikes, Helmets, Water & bikes had a small clip on bag on handlebars for small items & you are able to leave back packs etc at reception. All bikes were in excellent condition & none of our group had any problems whilst on the tour. Matthew our guide was extremely good, giving us the details/history of the sights we stopped at. Excellent with children too & made sure that our Son was always right behind him whilst riding so that he couldn't go astray from the route. Really recommend this tour...

A great tour to end our time in Rome. Great fun! Thanks Miles.

We wanted to see the Appian Way, the aqueducts and the catacombs so this was a perfect tour and a great way to end our time in Rome. Mies was a wonderful guide - so friendly and informative. The farm stop was good and the wine helped me ride better. We enjoyed talking to Maria about her farm and cheese making. We would highly recommend this tour. While long in time it was not difficult with the electric bikes. If I can do it anyone can!!
