What people are saying about Romanian Athenaeum
Peles Castle was amazing. I wish we had time to do the full tour instead of just the standard tour as I would have liked to have seen the bedrooms. I suggest that the tour give the participants the option of paying the difference in ticket price for the full tour, which I would have done. Those who do not want to do so would have free time there. It was the highlight of the tour. As our tour guide stated, Bran Castle was just an Instagram moment. However, I felt I had to see it. The information about the Romanian royal family was interesting. Brasov was fine for a late lunch.
Peles castle is a very picturesque site; even such a short tour is worth considering it. The stop in Brasov could be 30 minutes longer, to be make wandering around possible. Nevertheless, the "Dracula Castle" is a typical tourist trap- in my opinion, it's a waste of time to go there. The guide was very approachable and positive. Our bus was pretty new, and comfy, fitted with A/C- the driver was driving in a dynamic yet safe way (taking into consideration local standards of driving).
Boogie was an exceptional tour guide - full of energy, funny, and the kind of guy who takes initiative to solve problems as needed. There was a hopeless traffic jam and he got off the bus to help get the situation resolved so cars could move again. He provides an interesting perspective not only on the sites visited but also on modern life in Romania. Note that the entry tickets into the castles is included in this tour price, which is a ~$25 value.
Serban, our tour guide, made this tour an unforgettable one! From morning to afternoon, the tour is jam-packed with amazing stories and jaw-dropping scenery. Having tickets in advance for both castles is a huge time saver which gave the group extra time to wander around both palaces. Serban is a highly entertaining tour guide who will make the trip worth your while. Make sure you ask for him. Highly recommended!
Really good tour - we saw exactly what we needed to see to understand the functioning of the city, the history and the current events The bikes were well functioning The guide knew what he was talking about and answered all our questions, we tasted Romanian treats from communist era which was a plus and we got a take home photo
