5. St. Michael’s, Elbe Tunnel & Harbor 2-Hour Hamburg Tour

On this interesting tour you get to see 3 of the most fascinating sights in Hamburg: St. Michael’s Church, the Old Elbe Tunnel, and the harbor. St. Michael’s Church is lovingly called “Michel” by the Hamburg residents and is the youngest of the 5 main churches in the city. Admire 3 of the 5 organs, the largest church clock in Germany, and the impressive bell tower. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the observation deck, which you can access by walking or by lift (optional). Check out the widow homes from the 17th century behind the church in the Krayenkamp, the last remaining examples of typical courtyard buildings in Hamburg. You then walk through the Portuguese quarter in the direction of St. Pauli Landungsbrücken. Here you can see the two ships by the shore: Rickmer Rickmers and Cap San Diego. While the hustle and bustle of Landungsbrücken invites you to linger for a while, you continue on to the Old Elbe Tunnel. Climb down the stairs in the over 100-year old construction or take the elevator. Depending on the time remaining, you’ll go under the River Elbe to Steinwerder, where you can enjoy the wonderful panoramic view over the city of Hamburg. Our recommendation if you love organ music: join a 20 minutes organ concert at noon Monday till Friday at St. Michaelis church. We can start our tour directly after the concert at 12:30

I went there on a weekday around 14:00 and I would say 1-1,5 hrs was enough for me to explore the ship and understand its rich history. I particularly loved the furnished rooms which enabled me to imagine how life was then (being there on board). There were interactive games which I also enjoyed. In the afternoon I was able to catch the sunset that made the experience more memorable.

The ship is very beautiful. In particular, the cabins from the earlier period and the inventory are well described. Things are also interesting on deck. Inside you can walk down three floors from the deck. There is also an on-board restaurant where you can eat and drink.

Seen a lot, what a cosmopolitan city........... a bit of a shame about the weather. Had a lot of rain, cold and wind. In addition, we were in Berlin 6 years ago, which we thought was a nicer city........... But we thought so.

Definitely worth a visit, the audio guide is next level, no headphones required, the guide can be downloaded using a QR code, well worth it

It was super nice and just completely relaxed and easy with the City Oass
