Actually is not a day trip and a guide isn't necessary. It iis a bus hop on/off ticket. I wasn't on their list, they told me that there is no day trip, but I should go with them. All the pick-ups and drop-offs where well organized, they bring you to an incredible place and you can hike the Rhiolite mountains for several ours. That place is outstanding. I would like to do it again.

Part from having to wait at one stop for passengers from another bus to join it was good. Fun riding the bus on the dirt roads that led to Landmannalaugar, although everything in the bus (including yourself) got really dusty. Worth pointing out that this is transfer only & there’s no guide, you get to hike & explore on your own for 6 hours.
